Morphettville – Daily Brief (25 July 2026)
Two very different shapes of speed
TH.INTEL Race Intelligence — Morphettville
Closing Index, which measures how strongly a horse finishes relative to the rest of its field, is shared seven ways: R1 No.6 Brimarvi Rosemarie, R3 No.3 Volcanic Express, R5 No.9 Glouf, R7 No.9 Jandami, R8 No.11 Robert The Puss, R9 No.2 Tobikko, and R9 No.5 Hooked On Wealth all produced the meeting’s strongest finishing effort, +6.
R2 No.1 Miracle Spin holds the meeting’s highest Last Run Velocity Rating (9.95), the speed figure from its most recent start alone.
R3 No.5 Cicala holds the meeting’s highest Current Preparation Velocity Rating (8.32), the best speed it has recorded so far this campaign.
R4 No.2 Hello World holds the meeting’s highest Average Velocity Rating (7.74) — its typical recorded speed across recent runs, benchmarked nationally.
R4 No.11 Everlasting Kiss holds the meeting’s highest Max Grade rating, 96 — a measure of the toughest grade it has ever raced at.
Campaign Ironhorse are the horses deepest into their campaigns, and today R5 No.1 Oak Park Maddison and R8 No.1 Head Of The Herd both enter eleven runs into their current preparations.
R9 No.3 Eeny Meeny holds the meeting’s highest Benchmark Performance Index, 100.00 — Performance Index measures a horse’s performance against its own field, and the Benchmark reading is that figure taken across its full racing history.
Race 9 alone carries three of this meeting’s markers across three different runners — Eeny Meeny’s Benchmark Performance Index lead, plus two of the seven Closing Index co-leaders, Tobikko and Hooked On Wealth. On a nine-race card, that’s a race worth watching closely.

Race 1 – No. 6 Brimarvi Rosemarie
Our TH.INTEL Profile Horse is Brimarvi Rosemarie in Race 1 at Morphettville, trained by Sarah Rutten.
The four-year-old lines up for the fourth run of its preparation, returning after 20 days, almost identical to its historical average turnaround of 18 days. Within the TH.INTEL framework, horses often begin approaching their optimal level of race fitness at this stage of a preparation, making it an important point in the campaign.
Brimarvi Rosemarie has produced a particularly encouraging preparation to date. Its Current Preparation Performance Index has risen to 89.26, comfortably exceeding its Benchmark Performance Index of 81.72. When a horse begins performing above its established benchmark, it is often an indication that the current preparation is developing beyond previous campaigns.
The mare’s Velocity Rating profile tells an equally interesting story. While its Peak Velocity Rating sits at 9.04, its most recent Velocity Rating of 3.76 suggests there is still considerable upside remaining in this campaign. Rather than indicating the horse has already reached its peak, the data points to a horse that continues to build towards its maximum performance capacity. With this being the fourth run of the preparation, the timing aligns with where we would typically expect a horse to begin approaching peak fitness.
Another feature of Brimarvi Rosemarie’s profile is its ability to finish off its races. It currently holds the highest Finishing Differential of any horse in the Sarah Rutten stable, consistently making ground on its rivals in the closing stages. That ability to sustain speed through the line is one of the key performance characteristics monitored within the TH.INTEL framework.
Statistically, Brimarvi Rosemarie also holds the highest Benchmark Performance Index in the Sarah Rutten stable. Within the TH.INTEL framework, that establishes the mare as the stable’s benchmark performer, providing an important reference point when assessing both its current preparation and its capacity to perform.
This profile points to a horse progressing through a well-managed preparation. Already performing above its historical benchmark while still showing scope for further improvement, Brimarvi Rosemarie enters this assignment with one of the more compelling performance profiles on the Morphettville program. As always, TH.INTEL will be watching with interest to see how that profile continues to develop.

Race 7 – No. 3 Blazing Sword
Blazing Sword carries the meeting’s highest Peak Velocity Rating, 11.07 — the fastest figure any horse at today’s Morphettville meeting has ever recorded. Its Performance Index tells a different story: both its Current Preparation and career Benchmark readings sit at a moderate 55.84, meaning that outright speed hasn’t yet converted into a standout finishing position within its own races the way the raw figure might suggest.
Where Brimarvi Rosemarie’s case rests on rising performance already exceeding its own benchmark, Blazing Sword’s case rests on proven top-end speed still waiting to show up in the results column. Two different reasons to watch two different races on the same card.
